From the home screen select Renters Insurance.
Select Upload existing policy. This will allow you to upload your own renters insurance policy as proof of insurance coverage.
Select a file or image of your insurance policy document to upload. Make sure the file includes your name, the policy number, the name of the company that provides your policy, the liability amount, and the policy coverage dates. Please select a file that is PDF, TFF, PNG, or JPEG and is less than 10MB.
After selecting a policy, it will take a few moments for the file to be uploaded and scanned by the system. The system is verifying the following:
Your name is listed on the policy document
Any additional members of the household who are intended to be covered by the policy are listed on the document
Your policy number is listed on the document
Policy dates are listed on the document and the policy is currently active
Liability coverage amount is listed on the document and meets your property manager’s liability coverage requirement (typically $100K or $300K in liability coverage).
While the document is processing, you may close the screen and check back in a few minutes. Otherwise, simply wait for the results of your scan.
Once the results of the policy scan are ready, the system will provide feedback on whether your policy demonstrates proof of insurance coverage. If your policy document meets the requirements, you can click Done to finish the workflow.
In some cases, the system may find an issue with the policy document such as missing information or an insufficient coverage amount (see examples below). In this case, you may need to upload another document in order to properly demonstrate proof of coverage. In order to do so, click Upload a different file and provide a file that addresses the concern.
If you do not have a policy that meets the requirements at that time, you may also click Finish later to come back to this task at another time. Please note that some property managers may require you to have insurance at the time of your move-in and if you are not covered before that date, your property manager may add you to their Liability to Landlord Insurance policy coverage.
(Example 1: Tenant has uploaded a policy which does not list the dates of coverage)
(Example 2: Tenant has uploaded a policy which does not have the liability coverage amount required by their property manager)
